Monday Must Reads!...

This week for my Monday Must Reads, I've gone old school. Well, not really "old". The book I've chosen today has been out for a couple of years, but to those who have read it, it may seem like an odd, old choice.

The reason I've chosen it is because I actually met someone the other day who hasn't read it. I was all like, "What?!! you've never read this book?!" and they were all like, "Um, no." So naturally I had to pick it for my Monday Must Reads this week, just in case there is another person out there who hasn't read it.

What book am I referring to, you ask? Why, none other than...

By Suzanne Collins

product description from goodreads.com

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before--and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Oh man, just reading that synopsis makes me wanna pick up my copy and start all over again. Now, for those few who haven't read this book, please go forth and get a copy today. I wanna remember what it feels like to read it for the first time via you!

  4. Someone RAK'd me a copy of this last week (yay!) so now my husband has finally agreed to read it. What has the dude been waiting for? I DO NOT KNOW. I've been trying to tell him for ages how incredible this series is. But I'm not taking his tail to the movie with me if he hasn't read the book, and I'm straight-up serious about that. Anyway...

Very good choice. I actually saw two people on twitter in the past couple of days saying that they were about to start the series. Better late than never, right?
