Okay so if you happen to follow me here at writers write, right?, then you may have noticed that there is no Meet an Author Monday post today. That's because I neglected to contact an author last week to set up an interview for today. My apologies.
Now, I foresee this happening more in the future, so to offset my lack of organization I've come up with a replacement for those missed Mondays. Please say hello to Monday Must Reads! This little meme has been created for the sole purpose of showcasing books that I think you, well, Must Read (hence the title).
Today's selection is one of my new favorites. It's the beginning of a dystopian series that is so beautifully written I immediately became lost in the pages, only finding my way out with the final words. Please, go right now to your library or bookstore or ebook website and pick up a copy of...
product description from laurenoliverbooks.com
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn't understand that once love--the deliria--blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold.
Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when she'll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.
But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: she falls in love.

I'm not going to post a review for fear of revealing things about this book. I'm just going to say that you Must Read Delirium...now!
I've been DYING to read this. I don't know why I haven't, yet. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again :D
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I haven't read this one yet, either, because I LOVED Before I Fall. This will be fixed very soon. :)
ReplyDeleteLadies - You MUST read this book! It's so great and so heart-wrenching (at the end) that I wanted to flip back to page one and read it again!
ReplyDeleteWell you already know my thoughts on this book :P but I'll say it again -- EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK. PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteP.S. how did you get your hands on a signed copy of it??!!! That's pretty awesome ;-) haha
G - I DO know your feelings, but thanks for the reiteration!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had a wonderful friend from the grand state of Texas send me a signed copy...wasn't that nice of her? ;-)
I loved Before I Fall and I loved this one, too! I definitely think it'll be worthy of a re-read in the future. And I cannot wait for the second one to come out!!
ReplyDeleteFloeticFlo - I think I'll be re-reading this one too once the second one comes out...can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteI really LOVED this book!!
ReplyDeleteJules - Me too!!
ReplyDeleteGosh darnit, I convinced myself it was a stand-alone and was pleased about the realistic ending. This goes back to my comment about really wanting more stand-alones in YA. I'm not sure how the knowledge that it's a series affects my feelings about the book.
ReplyDelete- Sophia.
Sophia - You thought it was a stand-alone? Wow, I so didn't get that feeling! I can't wait for the second one, mainly because I fell in love with the characters and want to know more about them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Monday Must Reads! I'll have to check out the book.
ReplyDeleteKathi - Thanks so much...glad you approve! And definitely check out the book, you'll love it!
